Indian Railways launches first Vande Bharat express train between Chennai and Mysuru

How often have you heard someone say they want to travel from Chennai to Mysuru? Well, now you can! The Indian Railways has launched its first ever direct train service connecting Chennai and Mysuru. Indian Railways launches first Vande Bharat express train between Chennai and Mysuru.

Chennai and Mysuru are two major cities located along India’s southern coast. They are also connected by road via National Highway 4 (NH4). In addition, both cities are well known for their rich cultural heritage.

“This new train service is expected to boost tourism and trade between these two important destinations,” said Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha.

The Vande Bharat Express will run on a daily basis with the inaugural journey departing Chennai at 7:15 am and arriving in Mysuru at 9:30 pm. It will be operated by the newly-launched Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special Fare AC Chair Car Service.

The train will depart Chennai every day except Thursday and Sunday. On Thursdays, it will leave Chennai at 8:00 pm and arrive in Mysuru at 12:45 am. On Sundays, it will leave Chennai on Saturday night at 10:00 pm and arrive at Mysuru on Monday morning at 6:30 am.

The train will stop at all stations enroute including Chittoor, Tirupati, Nellore, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Visakhapatnam, Ananthpuram, Kakinada, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada and Amaravati before reaching Mysuru.

The train will cover the distance of 563 km in just four hours and 55 minutes. Passengers travelling in this special class train will enjoy food and beverages as per the menu laid down by the catering company.

The Vande Bhart Express will offer comfortable air conditioned seating arrangements, power supply, clean toilets, drinking water, bio-toilets, CCTV cameras, baggage handling facilities, pantry car and other amenities. The train will carry around 1,000 passengers each way. Tickets for the train can be booked online or through IRCTC’s e-ticketing system.
